Summertime is often filled with adventures, bucket list items, travels and home projects. If you are taking some time to renovate your home and ensuring that everything is in tip-top shape, don’t forget to check out your home’s plumbing system!
Use the list below as your summer bucket list: plumbing edition! We’ve included key areas to check, important information and a few tips and tricks of the trade.
1. Inspect your home for any leaks
If the ground feels soft around your toilet or tub, it could be an indicator of a leak and water damage. While you’re there, feel the walls and tiles around the bathtub, if they are loose or the wall feels soft, it could be because of water damage.
2. Inspect your appliances
Some of the appliances you’ll want to look at are your water heater, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and washing machine. Ensure that there are no leaks, no rust on the water heater tank and that everything is working properly.
3. Inspect your backyard
Summertime is the perfect time of year to spend in your backyard. Whether your kids are playing in the backyard, you’ve started a garden or you’re simply relaxing and watching the sunset, your backyard could be telling you more than you think.
If there is standing water in your backyard or the grass is unusually green in one particular area, this could indicate a leak or a ruptured sewer line. Pay attention to what your yard is telling you this summer!
